Importance of metal processing for value creation

Metal processing is an essential part of SBF's added value. Many of our lighting and interior systems are made from components that are manufactured in-house — aluminum, steel or stainless steel. The internal production depth makes it possible to implement projects in a technically precise, flexible and reliable way.

Processes and technologies in metalworking

The basis for this is the combination of modern machine technology and experienced specialists. Typical manufacturing processes include:
Sawing, milling, drilling, laser cutting, edging, roll bending and bolt pressing.
These process steps form the basis for precise components, which are later used in assemblies and complete systems.

Profile and pipe bending for support bars and partitions

SBF processes aluminum or steel profiles and pipes in-house for support bars, partitions and other components.
The bending processes enable customer-specific radii and geometries to be implemented precisely. Modern machine and measurement technology ensures a high level of repeatability — a key requirement for assembly quality and durability in vehicles.
Production is carried out in accordance with relevant railway standards, including EN45545.

5-axis processing of profiles and functional components

Another central component of production is the profile processing center. Here, aluminum, steel, stainless steel and plastic profiles are machined in a single assembly — with a processing length of up to 15,000 mm.
Typical work steps include 5-axis milling, drilling, sawing and end face processing.
The tight tolerance management and precise measurement technology enable reliable further processing in assemblies and ensure that components can be precisely integrated into the respective systems.

Automotive interior applications and beyond

The manufactured components are used, among other things, as carriers, guides, consoles or functionally integrated profiles — both in the interior of rail vehicles and in other technical systems.
Thanks to this depth of production, SBF is able to implement customer-specific solutions: from prototypes to series production, with a high degree of repeatability in every step.
